First JCC Dinner passed quickly!

JCC monthly dinner passed quickly! Several folks showed up after a few months silence, some even showed up from rather distant like NIU, UIC, DePaul U, U of Chicago, Loyola U.... There were students who just celebrated her birthday. There were students who tried Tempura ice cream, Gyoza, Edamame, Yakitori, Sukiyaki, Tonkatsu as well as Sushi. Though it was rather small group, tension got as high as it could be. Hopefully everyone comes back again in a month. Oh, yeah! Sometimes money got short but no problem our trust among GTS circle takes care of it! Japanese culture is pretty convenient in such a occasion. What is exactly the Japanese culture? You guess! And must guess right!

Sensei! Sensei! So after talking last night about how we wanted to talk to someone who could speak Japanese, I was in my drawing class, and these crazy people across the room go, "Hey everybody! Let's get Chinese food. We'll meet at Chin's at なになに time."

The girl next to me goes kind of quietly to herself, "Chin's is Thai food."

And I asked her what nationality she was, and she's Japanese! She came here eight years ago.

So then I was going to get coffee at the cafe, and I ran into my friend Maria (she's from Greece and came here around eight years ago too). Well, it turns out that they're really good friends and did ESL together and went to high school together.

不思議な世界!

Oh, that is really something! What a coincidence! Did you become a kinda friend with that Japanese? Things around us seem to be connected with soemthing invisible devine strings-like substance related to Japanese. I am quite happy living in such world with people like you. Let's expect something much more exciting happening! -GTS

Hahaha. Juria! It's true! "Six degrees of Kevin Bacon" ends with Kevin Bacon. XD

Yeah, it was crazy! We're in art class together, and we talked a little before this, so hopefully we can hang out outside of class too. I invited her to come to Japanese class too. She said she doesn't have classes then, so she'll try to come sometime.

We'll see!

Wes, we're just the crazy trio :D

Haven't you come to expect this from us now?

I also really like this site shingo

http://www.manythings.org/japanese/

You could recommend them to your first years too because it has alot of hiragana and katakana study material but the main reason why I like it is for the kanji portion! Lots of flashcards! :D

Yes, that is a good site. Charles Kelly is in Aichi Institute of Technology as a teacher! -GTS!

Can any of you recommend a good Japanese import game for DS that is good for learning/writing kanji?
