COD Board Recognition of GTS!

The good news has just come in from GTS' associate dean of the humanities sub-division of Liberal Arts Division saying that GTS will be recognized as "THE Best College Teacher of Japanese in the US this year"
Here is a quote: "I just wanted to let you know that you will be recognized by the Board of Trustees at their meeting on Monday, December 8. The Board will re-award you the certificate that you receive later this month at ACTFL. A couple days prior to the Board meeting, you will be contacted about your plaque. --Again, congratulations on your award and thank you for your service to Japanese language study."
December JCC dinner will be the celebration with royal students of GTS. This type of recognition will never be possible withOUT GTS students' support! The recognition must be share with GTS students! How? I don't know but I DO know there is no such things like free 'A' grade to any students!!

HEEEEEH!?!? THE best Japanese Teacher? Honto desuka!? I believe it! Omedetou! Congratulations, Shingo! That is quite an honor! I am honored to be studying from you!

May not be the BEST but "the teacher of the year" must be significant.
Board Recognition is really something, I guess. -GTS

So is this award directly related to the DIFFICULTY of a teachers class? Just kidding shingo, you really do deserve it... and i know its true because the fact is, even though i have nightmares where im fighting giant Kanji, and i occasionally wake up screaming about verb conjigations and moles shooting arrows at the sun.... i continue coming back to your class. Keep it up Shingo, you are a credit to language teachers.

Thanks, Wes! One of the students who transfered to U of I said that the test and quiz over there were a piece of cake after finishing GTS class even though many other assignments over there were tough!

Shingo, did you know today is considered Pocky Day? It's because the 1's in 11/11 look like four sticks of pocky!

Really it is just a flimsy excuse to buy more pocky and eat lots of chocolate, even though I don't really need an excuse to do either one of those!

I think I'll bring some for everyone in class tomorrow as long as you don't think it will be too much of a distraction.

Jerry, be sure to bring enough that you can share with the 2201 class.....

That will be the real DISTRACTION!

I probably should bring pocky for 2201 class... to ease the pain of geting their chapter tests back!

Even though it may be a distraction, it would be a good way to celebrate Shingo's prestigous award and reward students in our 1101 class for making it this far! How does one say in Japanese, "I apologize for all the trouble I am about to cause!"

The most humble way should be "おさわがせしてもうしわけございません" (I have absolutely no excuse to disturb this much!) -GTS

I tried to input that phrase in Google translate just to see what would happen... It gave me this in response:

"MOUSHIWAKEGOZAIMASEN us to SAWAGASE"

Haha. Useless.

今年の最高の先生のアワードにおめでとう!

Shingo, if you ever open up a restaurant, it should be called "Shingo's Emotional Flavor"

GTS said...

OH, "ShEF" sounds good to me. -GTS
